In 2019, three teachers are awarded our Professional Development scholarships to attend the Florida Music Education Association (FMEA) Professional Development Conference each year ($500 each).
FMEA is a not-for-profit professional education association that serves and supports music education across Florida. FMEA promotes and publishes the Florida Music Director and music education research, organizes professional development programs, and broadens teachers’ knowledge and interest in their profession through affiliation with colleagues.
Thank you to all 14 talented music teachers who submitted applications!

Jennette is originally from Saginaw, MI and relocated to Cape Coral, FL in 1998. As a career changer, she attended FGCU’s Bower School of Music from 2008-2012 and received her B.A. in Music, majoring in Voice and Education.
Upon graduation Jennette began teaching at Mirror Lakes Elementary School, a Title I school, in Lehigh Acres, FL. She enjoys that position and says: "I feel so blessed to have a job that I love and have the opportunity to share my passion for music with my students."
Her duties include directing a small choir of 4th and 5th graders, as well as a 5th grade Bell Plates group. Last year she accompanied the Lee All-County Elementary Honor Choir and has been invited to do so again this year.
Jennette is a member of the FMEA, FEMEA, AOSA, and FVA and is very excited to attend the FMEA Conference in January. In fact she says: “Thank You for the grant! I appreciate it more than I can say.”
